Water and rebates

Grass rebates in the Valley, city by city.

Some cities pay you to pull out grass. Their rules on turf differ, and some pay only for desert plants. Type your ZIP to see yours.

The water math

35,000gallons a year you stop pouring on grass
About 1.8 backyard pools of water, every year

Rough figure for Bermuda grass in the Valley, about 35 gallons per square foot a year. Overseeding in winter adds more.

A Peoria backyard with turf for play and desert plants along the wall

How we plan it

Turf where you play. Desert plants where the rebate pays.

In Peoria the city pays for desert plants, not turf. So the Alvarez yard got turf in the middle for the kids and desert plants along the walls for the rebate.

FAQ

Rebate questions.

Who applies for the rebate?
You do, because the city pays you. We give you the measurements, photos and plan the city asks for, and we time the demo around the approval.
Do I have to wait for approval before you start?
Usually, yes. Most programs need approval or an inspection before the grass comes out. Start early and we’ll book the build behind it.
What if my city doesn’t pay for turf?
Then we draw the plan so the rebate pays for the desert plants and you pay for the turf where you play. Peoria and Chandler work this way.
Are these amounts current?
They’re what the cities listed in October 2026. Programs pause and change, so check the city’s own page before you count on it.
