Peeling floor redo

Your kit floor peeled. It’s not your fault.

Peeling under the tires, yellow near the door, flakes popping loose. We grind every bit of the old coating off, down to bare concrete, and put down a floor that stays put.

Before and after

Ground off, laid fresh, one day.

A big-box kit from 2019, peeling in both tire lanes and yellowed where the afternoon sun hits. We ground off every bit of it, $550 of removal on top of the floor, and laid Basalt over the bare slab.

Questions

Redo questions.

Can you coat over my old floor?
No. A coating is only as strong as what’s under it, and a peeling floor is already letting go. We grind every bit of the old coating off, down to bare concrete.
How much more does a redo cost?
Removal adds $1.25 a sq ft, so about $550 on a 2-car. Everything else is the same price as a new floor.
Will it peel again?
Not from the same causes. We grind instead of etching, test for moisture first and use a clear coat that doesn’t soften under hot tires. If it lifts, the warranty covers it.
My kit floor is only a year old. Is that normal?
Sadly, yes. Most kits are thin water-based epoxy over an acid-etched slab, and an Arizona summer finds every weak spot. It isn’t something you did wrong.
