Walkthrough and tape

Nate walks the slab with you, marks every crack and tapes the walls. Your car is out, the door is up.

  1. Nate walks the slab with you, marks every crack and tapes the walls. Your car is out, the door is up.

  2. A walk-behind grinder takes the top off the slab, down to clean, open concrete. The shroud and the HEPA vacuum keep the dust out of your house.

  3. Cracks get a polyurea filler, flush and ground smooth. Stem walls get the same prep as the floor.

  4. A tinted polyurea base goes down, and we throw the flake by hand until the base can’t hold one more chip. Before the garage hits 90.

  5. The loose flake comes up, the floor gets scraped smooth, and we vacuum every corner twice.

  6. A UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat, rolled out by hand, with grit in it if you asked for it.

  7. Socks only tonight. The tape comes off, Nate does the final walk with you, and you get the warranty in writing.

  8. Twenty-four hours after the clear coat, the car goes back in. Shelves and heavy boxes the same day.

Why first light

Heat eats working time.

A coating’s working time roughly halves for every 18 degrees. Drag the slab temperature and watch.

Slab temperature

70°F

About 35 minutes of working time per batch

What you do

Almost nothing.

Empty the garage the night before. Be there at 6:30 for the walkthrough and at the end for the walk. In between, the garage is ours and the door to the house stays closed.
