Acid wash

Same pool, one day apart.

An acid wash strips a thin layer of stained plaster and leaves it white again. Drag the line.

How it goes

Two days, start to swim.

We drain to your home’s sewer cleanout, which is what Valley cities ask for, never into the street.

  1. 01

    Drain

A submersible pump empties the pool to your sewer cleanout. About 8 to 12 hours.

  2. 02

Acid wash (if you chose it)

We wash the plaster with a diluted acid, rinse, neutralize and pump out the rinse water.

  3. 03

    Inspect

With the pool empty we check lights, returns and plaster, and send photos.

  4. 04

    Refill

Fresh water goes in through a hose filter. About 12 to 24 hours.

    0 ppm TDS start
  5. 05

    Startup chemistry

We balance the new water over the first week so the plaster stays protected.

Questions

Drain questions

How often should a Phoenix pool be drained?
Every three to five years for most pools. Salt pools and pools that lose a lot of water to evaporation sometimes sooner.
Why not drain in summer?
Empty plaster in 110-degree sun can crack, and high groundwater can push on an empty shell. October through April is the safe window.
How much water does it use?
A typical pool holds 15,000 to 25,000 gallons. Depending on your city, that’s roughly $50 to $120 on your water bill.
Can you clean just the tile?
Yes. Bead blasting removes calcium from the tile line without draining, from $395.
